Burnie Arts is looking for a Technician to join our team and help deliver high-quality technical and production services across our vibrant Cultural Precinct.
n
From setting up sound and lighting to troubleshooting AV issues and supporting live events, this is a hands-on role where no two days are quite the same.
n
What you will be doing
n
You will play an important role in making sure events, performances and functions run safely and smoothly. Your work will include:
n
n
Setting up and operating lighting, audio, audio-visual and staging equipment.
n
Engineering sound and preparing basic lighting rigs.
n
Supporting theatre and entertainment productions.
n
Setting up and packing down equipment for events and performances.
n
Troubleshooting and resolving audio, visual and lighting issues.
n
Preparing venues to meet technical and production requirements.
n
Working with clients and event teams to deliver their technical requirements.
n
Conducting pre-show technical briefings with Front-of-House teams.
n
Maintaining, cleaning and safely storing technical equipment.
n
Supporting venue security and the safety of staff and patrons.
n
Contributing to the development and review of safe work procedures and technical documentation.
n
Working collaboratively with the technical team to achieve great production outcomes.

About you
n




We are looking for someone who is technically capable, creative, adaptable and calm under pressure.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
Previous experience in a similar role within an arts, entertainment or cultural venue.
n
Experience operating lighting and sound consoles.
n
An aptitude and genuine interest in technical production and the performing arts.
n
Knowledge and understanding of rigging requirements.
n
The ability to troubleshoot AV issues and find practical solutions.
n
The ability to operate fly tower, rigging and theatre lighting safely.
n
Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
n
Excellent communication and time-management skills.
n
A current driver's licence.
n
A current Dogman and/or Riggers Licence, or the ability to obtain one.
n
A willingness to work flexible schedule around the events schedule.
n
n
Qualifications in Performing Arts, Live Production or a related field will be highly regarded, as will Elevated Work Platform, First Aid and Test and Tag competencies.
