Role Overview We are seeking an experienced
Java Solution Designer
to join a
Business Transactions Program
within a financial services environment. This role is responsible for designing robust, scalable, and secure solutions that support high-volume, mission-critical transaction processing.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, developers, and delivery teams to translate complex business requirements into well-defined technical solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the
end-to-end solution design
for Java-based systems supporting business and financial transactions
Translate business and functional requirements into
technical designs, architecture diagrams, and design documentation
Design scalable, resilient, and high-performance solutions for
high-volume transaction processing
Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and development teams to ensure designs are understood and deliverable
Ensure solutions comply with
financial services regulations
, security standards,



and internal governance frameworks
Provide technical guidance during build, test, and deployment phases
Review and approve detailed designs, code approaches, and integration patterns
Identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies
Support integration with upstream/downstream systems, including APIs, messaging, and legacy platforms
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience as a
Solution Designer / Senior Engineer
in Java environments
Deep hands-on knowledge of
Java (8+), Spring / Spring Boot
, and enterprise Java frameworks
Experience designing systems for
business or financial transactions
, ideally in banking, payments, or capital markets
Solid understanding of
microservices architecture
, RESTful APIs, and integration patterns
Experience with
transaction management
, data consistency, and fault tolerance
Strong knowledge of
SQL and relational databases
(e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
Familiarity with
event-driven architectures
and messaging (e.g. Kafka, JMS, MQ)
Solid documentation and stakeholder communication skills
Nice to Have
Previous experience working on
large transformation or regulatory programs
Exposure to
cloud platforms
(Azure)
Experience with
CI/CD pipelines
, DevOps practices, and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes)
Knowledge of financial messaging standards or transaction frameworks
