The Civic Events Officer is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of civic and community events across Knox. Acting as a central point of contact, the role provides expert advice and guidance to internal teams and community groups on event planning, permits, risk and compliance requirements.
A key focus of the role is leading the delivery of Council's Citizenship Ceremonies, ensuring a high-quality, inclusive and well-governed experience for participants. The position also supports the delivery of Council's festivals, pop-up events and broader arts and cultural programs. Working as part of the Festivals and Events team, you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including community organisers, contractors and internal departments, to deliver safe, well-managed and engaging events for the Knox community.
This is a full time temporary role until December ****, based at Wantirna South.
This is a Band 5 classified role. Remuneration will be $80,****** to $93,****** (depending on experience) (pro-rata for part time/fixed term) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will bring to this role
Demonstrated experience in event planning, coordination and delivery, ideally within a community or local government environment
Sound understanding of event permits, risk management, safety requirements and relevant legislation
Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively support and engage a diverse range of stakeholders
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes




Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a positive, values-driven culture
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using systems to support event administration and delivery
