Acquainted Talent has been engaged by a well-established specialist services organisation to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor.
This is a broad, standalone position supporting a mid-sized workforce across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting directly to the General Manager ANZ, you will have genuine ownership of the health and safety function while working closely with regional managers, operational leaders and People & Culture.
The business has established safety systems and ISO certification in place. They are looking for a practical and collaborative Advisor who can maintain the existing framework, identify sensible improvements and build strong relationships across the organisation.
About the Business
The organisation provides specialist technical services across commercial, industrial and infrastructure environments.
Its workforce includes office-based professionals, technical specialists and operational field teams working across a variety of locations and client sites. The business has an established presence across Australia and New Zealand and is known for delivering practical, technically led solutions.
The Role
Based at the Sydney head office, the Health & Safety Advisor will provide practical support across both operational and corporate teams.
Responsibilities will include:
Providing health and safety advice to managers and employees
Conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments
Leading incident and near-miss investigations
Managing workers' compensation, rehabilitation and return-to-work processes
Overseeing employee medical compliance and health surveillance
Coordinating safety training, meetings and initiatives
Managing the annual ISO reaccreditation process
Supporting internal and external audits
Leading the continued development of the safety reporting platform
The role will involve interstate travel approximately once or twice per quarter, along with occasional travel to Recent Zealand. It is primarily office-based in Sydney when not travelling.
About You
You will be an established Health & Safety Advisor who is ready to take broader ownership of a function.
You will bring:
A Certificate IV in WHS or relevant health, safety or environmental qualification
Experience within an operational, technical, field-based or project environment
Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and compliance
Experience with audits, incidents, risk management and safety documentation
Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills
The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
A practical and collaborative approach to safety
Confidence working with both field-based employees and senior leaders
Experience with ISO-certified management systems, workers' compensation, return to work or health surveillance would be highly regarded. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Advanced First Aid certification would also be beneficial.
What's on Offer
Standalone ownership across Australia and New Zealand
Direct access to the General Manager and senior leadership
A broad generalist remit across operational and corporate safety
Established systems and ISO certification already in place
The autonomy to manage the function and implement practical improvements
Exposure to a varied operational and project-based environment
This is an attractive opportunity for an Advisor seeking greater autonomy, visibility and breadth without stepping into a heavily strategic or people-management position.
