About the role The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality food in accordance with the establishment's menus and standards.
The role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient operation of the kitchen, maintaining strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations, managing stock effectively, and supporting the broader culinary team to deliver an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Duties and Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and present menu items in accordance with standard recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
Assist with the development and execution of daily specials and seasonal menu changes as directed by the Head Chef.
Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service requirements and guest expectations.
Accommodate dietary requirements and allergy requests with strict adherence to cross-contamination protocols.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
Strictly comply with the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code and local food safety regulations.
Monitor and record food temperatures, cooling times,



and storage conditions in accordance with the venue's Food Safety Program (HACCP).
Ensure all kitchen equipment is operated safely and maintained in good working order, reporting any defects or hazards immediately.
Receive and inspect food deliveries to ensure quality, correct quantities, and appropriate temperature controls.
Implement strict stock rotation procedures using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stocktakes, and assist with ordering supplies to prevent shortages.
Minimise food wastage through careful preparation, proper storage, and efficient use of ingredients.
Essential Skills Strong technical cooking skills and a refined palate.
Ability to multitask, prioritise duties, and work efficiently under pressure during peak service periods.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a diverse kitchen brigade.
Precision in food preparation, plating, and adherence to recipes and safety protocols.
