About the Role Reporting to the Director-General and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the Deputy Director-General, Strategic Policy, Performance Partnerships provides strategic leadership across a significant policy, investment and performance portfolio that is central to the department's future direction and reform agenda.
This is an exceptional executive opportunity to shape government policy, lead system-wide reform and influence outcomes for Queensland communities.
You will provide executive stewardship across strategic policy, organisational performance, investment, governance and partnerships, ensuring the department remains responsive, accountable and focused on delivering measurable impact.
A trusted adviser to the Director-General, Minister and Board of Management, you will lead transformational initiatives, provide authoritative advice on complex and sensitive issues and foster strong partnerships across government, industry and the community sector.
Your leadership will help create a high-performing,
future-focused organisation capable of delivering sustainable outcomes for Queenslanders.
Key Responsibilities As Deputy Director-General, you will: Lead a strategic executive portfolio focused on policy, performance, investment and partnership outcomes.
Provide executive stewardship of governance, risk, investment and organisational performance frameworks.
Drive system-wide reform and continuous improvement initiatives aligned to government priorities.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with Ministers, senior government leaders, service providers, peak bodies and community stakeholders.
Represent the Director-General and Minister in complex negotiations, consultations and high-profile forums.
Promote evidence-based decision-making through performance monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance frameworks.
Strengthen organisational capability, workforce effectiveness and leadership performance across the department.
Lead and inspire a large and diverse workforce, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and inclusion.
About You You are a highly accomplished executive leader with a strong track record of delivering strategic reform, policy leadership and organisational performance outcomes within complex public sector, human services or related environments.
You are recognised for your strategic thinking,
political acumen and ability to influence at the highest levels of government.
You bring exceptional judgement, solid governance capability and a collaborative leadership style that enables diverse stakeholders to align around shared outcomes.
Additionally, you will bring: Significant executive leadership experience within complex government, public policy or service delivery environments.
Demonstrated success leading large-scale reform, performance improvement and strategic policy initiatives.
Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building capability across government, industry and community sectors.
A proven ability to provide authoritative advice on complex and sensitive issues.
Exceptional communication, influence and negotiation skills.
Experience leading high-performing teams and fostering an inclusive, values-based culture.
A commitment to human rights, cultural capability and improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
