The Chance
You will join a discipline dedicated to preparing skilled, adaptable, and socially conscious educators who make a meaningful difference in classrooms and communities. The School brings together excellence in teaching, research, and industry engagement to deliver transformative educational experiences and positive outcomes across diverse learning environments.
You will provide academic leadership across teaching, curriculum development, research, and engagement activities, contributing to the delivery and coordination of programs across face-to-face and online learning environments. Through collaboration, mentoring, and innovation, you will support School and Faculty priorities while helping shape the future of teacher education through evidence-informed practice, impactful research, and strong partnerships with the education sector. You will:
Lead and coordinate courses and programs, ensuring exceptional student learning experiences across a range of delivery modes;
Design, develop and continuously enhance contemporary curriculum and learning experiences informed by educational research and industry practice;
Deliver engaging teaching that supports student achievement,
retention and graduate success;
Build and maintain an active research profile through publications, collaborative projects and higher degree research supervision;
Contribute to research funding opportunities and strengthen the School's research impact through productive partnerships;
Foster strong relationships with schools, professional bodies, industry partners and community stakeholders;
Provide academic leadership, mentor colleagues and contribute to a positive, inclusive and high-performing academic culture; and
Support School, Faculty and University initiatives through governance, service and strategic contribution.
About you:
You are an accomplished educator and researcher with a passion for teacher education and a strong commitment to student success. Bringing expertise in one or more of Health and Physical Education, Outdoor and Environmental Education, Mathematics and Numeracy, Science, Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), or Early Childhood Education, you are dedicated to delivering exceptional learning experiences that prepare future educators to make a meaningful difference in their communities.
With a collaborative and inclusive approach, you build strong relationships with students, colleagues, research partners, and stakeholders across the education sector. You are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to innovative teaching, impactful research, and meaningful engagement, while helping to shape the continued growth, reputation, and success of a dynamic and forward-thinking School.
You will possess:
Completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
Effectiveness as a teacher, which is evidenced by:
student feedback on teaching using valid instrument/s, peer reviews and/or student outcomes,
and
the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to the practice and leadership of relevant areas of teaching.
A sound and established track record of research activity, including for example: refereed publications; participation in research teams whose research is funded by external competitive grants; quality supervision of, and timely completions by, candidates for honours and higher degrees by research; and impact of research;
Sound leadership contributions and personal qualities that influence the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to high levels of engagement and standards of achievement for both staff and students;
Participation and success in academic administrative functions e.g. program coordination, within a University;
Membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice; and
Evidence of regular participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.
Desirable:
Postgraduate qualifications in higher education.
Formal external and/or internal recognition for excellence in learning and teaching and/or research.
