About the Role:
Not every sales role lets you influence how an entire destination is experienced. At Queensland Rail Travel, we're looking for an energetic and commercially minded Business Development Associate to help grow one of Australia's most unique travel and tourism portfolios. Delivering iconic rail journeys and successful tourism partnerships that connect visitors with regional Queensland experiences, you'll be at the centre of tourism dispersal and travel development. This is a role for someone who brings new perspectives, challenges the status quo when needed, and sees opportunities around every curve.
This is a
permanent full-time position based in Brisbane (Meanjin),
with some work outside regular hours (this may include evenings or weekends) and regular travel (including by train) within Queensland (and occasionally interstate).

Purpose that counts. You'll make a meaninful contribution by:
Driving revenue and patronage growth across Queensland Rail Travel products and rail experiences
Building and strengthening relationships with community, trade and industry partners through collaboration, shared insights, training and product guidance
Identifying new market opportunities and develop contemporary sales plans
Analysing market trends, customer behaviour and industry insights to uncover commercial opportunities and solve problems
Designing and delivering compelling and knowledgeable presentations for trade, industry and customer audiences and represent Queensland Rail Travel in a range of forums
Hosting and supporting successful familiarisations
Maintaining accurate reporting and insights, including KPIs, industry activity, project outcomes and engagement performance
Contributing fresh ideas to help grow rail tourism across Queensland

We're looking to connect with someone who ideally has:
experience or qualifications in Tourism, Travel sales, Hospitality, Destination marketing, Aviation, Business development, Travel technology, Events or partnerships
a strong interest in Australian tourism, with an understanding of industry dynamics and customer expectations
confidence and be well versed in authentic and influential communications.
a passion for building successful relationships
a sense of curiousity, strong motivation and is commercially minded
the ability to travel throughout regional Queensland and occasionally further afield
