About us:Welcome to Ipswich State High School , a dynamic, inclusive, and future-focused learning community.We are proud to deliver a high-quality education that supports every student to achieve success across academic, vocational, cultural, and sporting pathways.Our solid and consistent pedagogical practices create calm, structured classrooms where students are known, valued, and engaged in meaningful learning.Your opportunity:With approximately 30 students from Defence families enrolled at our school, this established role plays an important part in supporting students from Defence backgrounds to thrive emotionally, socially and academically throughout their schooling.The Defence School Mentor acts as a vital link between home and school, supporting young people from Defence families to successfully integrate into the school community and experience a welcoming, inclusive and supportive educational environment.Key responsibilities:Support students from Defence families with their social, emotional and academic wellbeingAssist students to settle into and engage positively with the school communityAct as a connection between families, students,



school staff and external stakeholdersMonitor the social and emotional wellbeing of students from Defence familiesProvide advocacy and support for students as neededWork collaboratively with individuals, groups, families and stakeholders to develop and implement programmes that promote inclusion, connection and belonging for Defence students.Please view the role description for a full list of responsibilities.Interested?
