About the Team
The Institute for Public Policy and Governance (IPPG) is an independent, interdisciplinary research and consulting organisation at UTS whose purpose is to shape policy, governance and decision-making for the public good. It provides consulting, research and teaching services to all levels of government as well as industry and the non profit sector.
About the Role
The Senior Consultant, Advisory Services position is an integral member of the Institute's interdisciplinary consulting services team that undertakes applied policy and qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation projects for clients.
The focus is on delivering impactful advice and the effective and efficient delivery of projects that enhances IPPG reputation as a quality advisory service.
If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for:
- Undertaking social and/or economic research, evaluation and applied policy projects for government and non-government clients including Commonwealth, state and local governments
- The sound analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, making rational judgements from the available information and evidence and writing high-quality research reports and presentations based on research findings
- Undertaking a variety of qualitative and quantitate research such as developing surveys; undertaking stakeholder interviews and focus groups; undertaking desktop evidence scans; analysing documents; participating in field observation; and statistical analysis
- Assisting in coordinating select projects in collaboration with senior staff
- Contributing to the development of new work and the preparation of funding and commercial tender proposals consistent with IPPG objectives
- Utilising internal project management and systems processes to ensure effective and efficient research and project delivery.
With examples, please outline within your Cover Letter, how you meet the following five (5) key selection criteria:
1. Excellent research skills in public policy, strategy, research, analysis and evaluation projects
2. Business acumen and the ability to work within a commercial consulting setting, including contributing to the preparation of proposals
3. Outstanding oral and written communication skills covering reports, advice, presentations, slide decks and other tools
4. Knowledge of public policy environments, particularly within a government setting and/or commercial consulting setting
5. Demonstrated experience undertaking robust quantitative and qualitative research methods and completing applied research or policy development projects
Remuneration/Salary
Base Salary Range: $125,706 - $143,166 pa (HEW 8)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
