What you'll be doing
MNCLHD New Street Service is a NSW Health child protection initiative and part of a developing network of services delivered by Local Health Districts in New South Wales. It provides counselling intervention to families of children and young people (10 - 17 years) who have sexually harmed.

The Senior Clinician has a key role in ensuring the delivery of quality, specialist services in a forensic service, provide clinical leadership and guidance in the planning, policy development and service delivery in a complex forensic clinical setting.

About You
You hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership with the AASW, or you are fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia with a four-year sequence of study in psychology, or a qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. You may alternatively hold full registration supported by a Masters degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or another recognised clinical specialty, with postgraduate study of at least two years' duration that includes clinical coursework, supervised placements and structured professional training. Your credentials reflect a strong clinical foundation and a high level of professional preparation for complex therapeutic work.

You meet the requirements of the Child Sex Offender Counsellor Accreditation Scheme and bring extensive postgraduate clinical experience, demonstrating the capacity to work therapeutically with people who have sexually abused others and those who have experienced abuse.



Your practice is informed by substantial experience in sexual assault, violence, abuse and related clinical domains, enabling you to engage with individuals and families in highly sensitive and challenging circumstances.

You demonstrate a deep understanding of the impact of colonisation on Aboriginal people and communities, including its relationship to Aboriginal family violence. You work effectively and respectfully with Aboriginal communities in culturally competent ways and show a clear commitment to addressing Aboriginal health and community needs through informed, responsive and collaborative practice.

You have a strong grasp of the legal and policy frameworks governing sexual assault and child protection in NSW, including the findings of the Special Commission of Inquiry into Child Protection and the Keep Them Safe action plan. Your knowledge of these frameworks supports safe, lawful and accountable practice, particularly in contexts involving vulnerable children, young people and families.

Your communication and interpersonal skills are excellent, demonstrated through clear, confident verbal and written communication, strong negotiation capability and effective facilitation grounded in a family- and young-person-centred approach. You work as a senior member of a therapeutic team, contributing clinical expertise, professional judgement and cooperative leadership.

You also bring experience in providing clinical supervision and clinical leadership, supporting the development of colleagues, strengthening team capability and ensuring high standards of therapeutic practice across the service.
