What you'll do

As the SQL Developer, you will play a key role in Queensland Health's Integrated Safety System (QHISS) Project within Patient Safety and Quality, supporting the design, development and implementation of enterprise reporting solutions across legacy and contemporary data sources. You will apply advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to develop data models, ETL processes and data transformation solutions that enable secure, reliable and timely access to critical information. Working closely with project teams and stakeholders, you will contribute to the development of strategies to migrate data into a centrally managed repository, supporting data retention, reporting and security objectives. You will provide expert advice on data architecture, reporting and system enhancements, ensure compliance with governance, privacy and security requirements, and lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen data quality and service delivery. In addition, you will mentor team members, promote best practice development standards, and build robust stakeholder relationships to support successful project outcomes and organisational objectives.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

- Demonstrated extensive expertise and experience in the following technology domains to analyse, provide technical direction, standardisation, professional advice:

- Strong data engineering capability within enterprise environments.
- Proficiency with SQL for pipeline development.
- Experience building near real-time ingestion pipelines.
- Data modelling and conformance experience for analytics and reporting.
- Data quality, validation, and observability practices, including reconciliation.
- Working knowledge of Azure data platform components supporting the ODS.
- Proven ability with Core MS SQL and T-SQL development.




- Experience with PowerShell/scripting for automation and ETL.
- Proven ability to document data processing workflows, transformations, and lineage.
- Proven ability in implementing appropriate security framework to meet data custodian requirements.
- Proven ability to analyse business and system problems and develop innovative solutions with strong focus on delivering high quality client services and outcomes.
