The role requires the successful applicant to maintain Wickham Freight Lines' fleet to a high standard, while working within a team workplace. Regular repairs, maintenance, modifications and services are to be carried out using workshop facilities at a satisfactory level of service in a timely and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

Tasks includes:
n
n
- Maintain, tests, service and repairs trucks and their mechanical parts including brakes, steering, transmissions and suspensions
n
- Detecting, diagnosing and repairing faults in truck engines and parts
n
- Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and referring to service manuals as needed
n
- Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles
n
- Service and repair braking systems
n
- Diagnose and repair heavy diesel vehicle shafts
n
- Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
n
- Diagnosing and testing parts
n
- Complete all required documentation relating to NHVAS procedures in a timely and accurate manner
n
- Other relevant tasks as required

- Three years plus experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role.
n
- Ability to carry out mechanical tasks with minimal supervision.
n
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and to make independent decisions.
n
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
n
- Proven ability to work within a team environment.
n
- Possess a driver's licence. HR or HC desirable.
