About Us

Fraser Coast Hospice is a purpose-built 6-bed facility located in Hervey Bay. We provide 24/7, multi-disciplinary inpatient palliative care to individuals aged 18 and over who are living with a terminal illness. With respect, compassion, and inclusivity, our goal is to provide high-quality, person-centered care in a peaceful and supportive environment.

About the Role
n
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Nurse to join our team on a permanent part-time basis (56 hours per fortnight). This is a shared role combining nursing administration duties with rostered clinical shifts, including on call, however the majority of hours will be based on the clinical roster.
n
Joining our Clinical Nurse team, you will play a vital role in supporting staff, coordinating care, and ensuring the highest standards of palliative care are delivered consistently.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff.
n
- Lead quality improvement projects, clinical audits, and reviews in alignment with NSQHS standards.
n
- Support our Palliative Care Outcomes Collaboration (PCOC) program.
n
- Triage service referrals and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team.
n
- Support nursing administration, including rostering, recruitment, and on-call scheduling.
n
- Support clinical education and training programs.
n
- Foster strong, respectful relationships with staff, volunteers, residents, families, and the wider community.
n

Selection Criteria
n
The successful candidate will ideally be:

- Compassionate with a caring, engaging, and skilled approach.
n
- Energetic and capable of clinical leadership to deliver high-quality palliative care.
n
- Committed to continuous quality improvement with a demonstrated understanding of relevant frameworks.
n
- Skilled in both written and verbal communication, with exceptional customer service.
n
- Able to collaborate effectively with volunteers and community members.
n
n
Qualifications & Experience
n
Essential:
n
n
- Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA.
n
- Minimum 2 years' experience in palliative care.
n
n
Highly Regarded:
n
n
- Postgraduate qualification in Palliative Care or related field.
n
- Previous nursing leadership experience.
n
n
