Job Description
Overview
n
Build What Matters
n
The Full Stack Engineer is an ownership role responsible for product outcomes end-to-end: from shaping technical approaches and building features through to release, reliability, and production performance.
n
At Sitemate, engineers combine strong technical craft with product thinking and delivery ownership. You'll work in small, high-trust teams alongside Product Design Managers to define problems, shape solutions, implement clean and scalable systems, and take responsibility for what ships — including how it behaves once live.
n
Engineering, product, and delivery are not separate handoffs here; they operate as one integrated team. We believe the future of product development in an AI-accelerated world belongs to engineers who can think beyond tickets - they own outcomes and deliver at speed with AI.
n
Employment
n
Full-time
n
Based: Sydney, Australia or Melbourne, Australia
n
Remuneration (Including Super): AUD $115,000 - $160,000 pending your experience
n
About Sitemate
n
Sitemate builds modern software for construction, infrastructure, and industrial companies - helping teams move faster, work smarter, and deliver with confidence.
n
Our flagship platform, Dashpivot, transforms manual, paper-based processes into simple, mobile-first digital workflows. Teams use Sitemate every day to capture data in the field, automate reporting, and make better decisions in real time.
n
Since launching in 2018, we've grown from 5 to 150+ people across 18+ countries. We're backed by Blackbird, Australia and New Zealand's #1 venture capital firm, and graduated from the Startmate Accelerator. Thousands of companies use Sitemate tools today - with thousands more discovering us each month through strong word-of-mouth and organic growth.
n
Why Join Sitemate
n
At Sitemate, you'll join a global team that values transparency, high velocity, hustle, diversity, and innovation.
n
We're open about our metrics, honest about challenges, and obsessed with improving how the world's most important industries operate. Our environment is flexible, fast-moving, and outcome-driven - designed to help you do the best work of your career.
n

n
How We Work

n
High velocity, low friction: Our systems are contemporary and fully integrated, so you'll spend your time solving problems - not fighting tools.
n
Performance-driven growth: Seven of our last ten pay increases were made proactively, based on impact and results.
n
True flexibility: We focus on outcomes, not hours. You'll have autonomy to manage your time and work where you perform best - with no time monitoring or unnecessary meetings.
n
Collaboration: You'll work closely with other teams - engineering, product, design, marketing, and customer success - to move fast and deliver meaningful results.
n
Sydney HQ perks - rooftop garden, wellness centre, showers, and cycle storage in Haymarket
n
Melbourne office perks - micro-roasted coffee bar, on-site parking & bike storage, wellness & mothers rooms, opposite Southern Cross station
n
What We Offer
n
Competitive, performance-based remuneration
n
Equity options - own a piece of what you're helping to build
n
20 days of paid annual leave, plus sick, carer's, and compassionate leave
n
n
- Paid parental leave - 16 weeks for primary carers, 6 weeks for secondary carers (including adoption and stillbirth support)
n
- Professional growth budget and a transparent career development framework
n

n
- Flexible work - remote or hybrid, plus the ability to work from anywhere for a few weeks each year
n
- Community & connection - weekly team lunches, global offsites, and our signature "Life Story" sessions
n
n
Diversity & Inclusion
n

What this role looks like at the mid level
n
n
- You'll join a team attached to one of our products and have real ownership from early on,
with the support of experienced engineers around you.
n
- You'll work across frontend, backend, and mobile: TypeScript, React, Node.js, Angular, MongoDB, and AWS. You don't need to know all of these, willingness to learn matters more than what you know today.
n
n
Day-to-Day
n
n
- Build and ship features with guidance from experienced teammates.
n
- Work with AI tools daily, with the team's workflow skills for planning, implementation and review.
n
- Fix bugs and improve product stability across web and mobile.
n
- Investigate and resolve production issues.
n
- Grow into more ownership over time, this role expands as you do.
n
n
Challenges
n
n
- Our products seem simple to users but contain a high degree of technical complexity — shared components across multiple products, backend services powering web and mobile clients. There's a lot to learn.
n
- Pace: we move quickly, so you'll need to be excited to learn fast.
n
- We have a strong culture based on core values and operating principles. You may need to unlearn some habits from previous experience.
n
n
Who This Role is For
n
n
- You've built things you're proud of at a startup, in a side project, during a bootcamp, or at university.
n
- You're deeply curious about AI-powered development and want to learn agentic engineering in a production environment.
n
- You want to understand the customer problem, not just the code.
n
- You're energised by learning fast in a supportive, high-tempo environment.
n
- You want to be part of building something meaningful — our users build real infrastructure that shapes communities.
n
n
Who This Role is Not For
n
n
- You prefer a slow ramp with months of onboarding before touching production code — here you'll ship early, with support.
n
- You're not interested in owning the end-to-end delivery of features.
n
- You're not interested in AI-first engineering practices, this is core to how we work, not optional.
n
n
Skills & Tools
n
Must Have:

n
- Solid hands‐on experience building and shipping production software
n
- Hands on experience with AI-powered developer tools and agentic engineering practices

n
n
- TypeScript, React, Node.js, Angular, MongoDB, or AWS experience
n
