Experienced Florist
n
Join the Stem Design team
n
Stem Design is a Brisbane-based floral design studio creating bespoke flowers and installations across weddings, corporate events, hotels, venues and commercial spaces.
n
We're looking for an experienced florist with a minimum of 3 years' professional floristry experience to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety and wants to work across a broad range of floristry rather than being limited to one area.
n
Our work spans weddings, corporate events, large-scale installations, hotel work, weekly corporate flowers, deliveries and on-site event production. For the right florist, this provides an opportunity to develop a broad skill set across projects that many florists don't have access to.
n
About the role
n
This position offers approximately 20-40 hours per week, with the potential to progress to permanent part-time employment for the right person.
n
As our work is event-driven, flexibility is essential. Hours and days vary according to our project and event schedule, with work generally occurring Monday to Saturday and the occasional Sunday when required.
n
The role includes some early mornings and occasional later finishes to meet event delivery, installation and collection schedules.
n
You'll work closely with the Stem Design team, with the ability to work under direction when required and independently once confident with a brief. There is also scope to take greater ownership of projects as your experience with Stem develops.
n
What you'll be doing
n
Your work will vary and may include:
n
n
- Creating floral arrangements, bouquets and designs for weddings, corporate clients and events
n
- Conditioning and preparing large volumes of flowers
n
- Producing large-scale floral installations
n
- Preparing flowers for hotels, venues and corporate clients
n
- Assisting with weekly corporate floral accounts
n
- Preparing and delivering event flowers
n
- Installing and packing down floral work at venues
n
- Loading and unloading vehicles and transporting flowers and equipment
n
- Maintaining stock and keeping the studio organised
n
- Working with the design team to interpret and execute creative briefs
n
- Contributing creative ideas and practical solutions
n
- Working efficiently to meet event deadlines
n
n
What we're looking for
n
You will have a minimum of 3 years' professional floristry experience and strong technical foundations.
n
We're looking for someone who is:
n
n
- Confident producing quality floristry independently
n
- Comfortable working under direction and adapting to different briefs
n
- Creative, with a positive eye for proportion, colour and composition
n
- Efficient and able to work with pace when required
n
- Highly organised and detail-oriented
n
- Reliable, punctual and professional
n
- Calm and solutions-focused under pressure
n
- A strong communicator and team contributor
n
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
n
- Interested in developing their skills across different areas of floristry
n
- Willing to learn and continually improve
n
n
A highly developed personal design style isn't essential. We value strong technical skills, creativity and a willingness to learn, and will help the right person develop within the Stem aesthetic.
n
A current, unrestricted Australian driver's licence is essential and is a non-negotiable requirement of the role. The position involves driving for deliveries, transporting flowers and equipment, and travelling to venues for installations and pack-downs.
n
The physical side of the role
n
This is an active, hands-on floristry position. It involves extended periods on your feet and regular lifting, carrying and moving buckets of flowers, boxes, equipment and finished floral work.
n
The role also involves loading and unloading vehicles, moving larger floral pieces and assisting with installations and pack-downs.
n
Applicants should be comfortable with the physical demands of commercial and event floristry and able to safely perform these essential duties.
n
Why Stem Design?
n
Stem offers the opportunity to experience a much broader range of floristry within one role.
n
You'll work across weddings, corporate events, hotels, commercial clients, large-scale installations and ongoing floral accounts, gaining exposure to different venues, clients and creative briefs.
n
For the right person, there is also the opportunity to develop technically and creatively, take on greater responsibility and progress into project ownership over time.
