Meers Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking a Senior First Line Risk & Assurance Officer to join highly regarded Non-Bank Lender.

The Senior First Line Risk & Assurance Officer oversees high-risk functions to ensure compliance with regulatory and policy standards.

This role delivers Quality Assurance reviews across mortgage credit processes and helps embed operational risk controls. It also investigates and reports suspicious activities to reduce financial crime risk. In addition to hands-on responsibilities, the officer acts as a senior expert, providing coaching and technical support to other team members, and support work allocations.

The position supports the Manager with ad-hoc reviews, reporting, stakeholder engagement and other tasks, contributing to the effectiveness and growth of the First Line Risk function.

Responsibilities include;-

- Monitor and investigate suspicious transactions and potentially fraudulent activities through data analysis and review.
- Oversee and conduct complex or high-risk investigations and act as the first escalation point for investigators.
- Identify process gaps and ensure appropriate alerts,



controls and triggers are implemented and monitored.
- Support the Manager in preparing investigation reporting insights.
- Conduct system and targeted assurance reviews to assess control effectiveness and compliance.
- Lead thematic or deep-dive reviews at the request of the Manager.
- Identify control weaknesses, process gaps and opportunities for automation or enhancement.
- Support uplift of assurance methodologies, templates and reporting.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to agree remediation actions and follow-up.

To be successful you will possess;-

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a first line risk, assurance or investigation role within Mortgages.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Australian regulatory and legislative environment.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a credit-based role within financial services.
- Solid knowledge of AML, Privacy Act and NCCP.
- A degree in Business, Accounting or other relevant discipline
