Job Description

An opportunity is available for an experienced Leading Hand Boilermaker / Fabrication Technician to join an established business in the transport and heavy fabrication industry based in Rocklea.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll remain on the tools while leading a team of Service Technicians, coordinating workshop activities and providing technical guidance. You'll be involved in the fabrication, welding, assembly and fitting of heavy vehicle bodies, trailers and transport equipment.

Duties

n

n
- Leading and supporting a team of Service Technicians
n
- Allocating daily tasks and coordinating workshop workflow
n
- Hands-on boilermaking, fabrication and welding
n
- Fabricating, assembling and fitting heavy vehicle bodies and trailers
n
- MIG and TIG welding
n
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and fabrication plans
n
- Troubleshooting fabrication issues and providing practical solutions
n
- Inspecting completed work to ensure quality and specification requirements are met
n
- Supporting toolbox talks, risk assessments and workplace safety
n
- Leading by example across safety, quality and workmanship
n

Skills & Experience

n

n
- Trade Qualified Boilermaker, Fabricator or Vehicle Body Builder
n
- Strong fabrication and welding experience
n
- Experience with trailers, heavy vehicle bodies, transport equipment or heavy fabrication
n
- Proven MIG and/or TIG welding skills
n
- Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
n
- Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience highly regarded
n
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills
n
- Good communication and leadership skills
n
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
n
