Mutkin Residential & Community Care is seeking an experienced and values-driven Chief Executive Officer to lead our organisation into its next chapter.

Based in Yarrabah, south-east of Cairns, Mutkin provides residential aged care, home and community care services to Elders and community members. Our services are grounded in respect for culture, family, community and Country, with a strong commitment to providing safe, high-quality and culturally appropriate care.

About the role

This is a hands‑on CEO role for an experienced leader who is comfortable working closely with the Board, senior managers, staff, residents and families, while maintaining strong oversight of governance, clinical quality and compliance, finance, workforce, risk and organisational performance.

The incoming CEO will join Mutkin at an key time. The organisation is currently progressing through aged care accreditation, refurbishing its low-care building, and considering opportunities for significant future growth and development.

Key priorities will include:

- Leading and supporting the senior management team and strengthening organisational culture and accountability.
- Maintaining strong governance, clinical quality, compliance and risk‑management systems, including preparedness for accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Overseeing financial and organisational performance, including identifying relevant grants, funding opportunities and partnerships.
- Building strong relationships with residents, families, Elders, staff, regulators, funding bodies and the broader community.
- Working closely with the Board to progress strategic priorities, infrastructure projects and potential future growth.

This is not a purely corporate or office-based leadership position. The CEO will be expected to be visible, engaged and accessible across the organisation,



while providing the strategic leadership and governance discipline required to guide Mutkin through its next stage of development.

About you

We are looking for an experienced senior leader who combines strong operational, financial and governance capability with a practical leadership style and genuine respect for community-controlled service delivery and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

You will ideally bring:

- Significant senior management or executive leadership experience within aged care, health, community services or another complex service environment.
- Strong knowledge of aged care regulation, accreditation, quality, clinical governance and risk.
- Demonstrated capability across financial management, workforce leadership, governance and organisational performance.
- The ability to work effectively with a Board, senior managers, clinical leaders and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, together with a demonstrated ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
- Relevant qualifications in management, governance, health or a related discipline will be highly regarded. Clinical experience or a health-related background would also be advantageous.
- The CEO is expected to oversee operations, finance, regulatory compliance, workforce leadership, governance support and quality assurance rather than being positioned solely as either a corporate or clinical executive.
