About The King Hotel

The King Hotel is a large licensed pub and hospitality venue located in Melbourne's CBD. It provides bar and bistro services, live sporting entertainment, TAB facilities, functions, special events and other hospitality services.

n

The Publican / Venue Manager will have overall responsibility for organising, directing and controlling the entire operation of the venue.

n

About the Position

n

We are seeking an experienced Publican / Venue Manager to take full responsibility for the operational, financial, staffing, licensing and commercial performance of The King Hotel.

n

This is a senior management position. The successful applicant will have authority over the venue's bar, bistro, functions, entertainment, TAB, customer service, security, purchasing, staffing, compliance and financial operations.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

n

n
- Directing and controlling the overall daily operations of the licensed premises.
n
- Planning and supervising bar, bistro, function, entertainment and event activities.
n
- Establishing and monitoring service standards across all areas of the venue.
n
- Managing budgets, revenue, wages, operating expenses and the overall financial performance of the business.
n
- Reviewing sales, costs and financial reports and implementing strategies to improve profitability.
n
- Managing purchasing, stock control, inventory, supplier relationships and pricing arrangements.
n
- Ensuring compliance with liquor licensing, RSA, food safety, TAB, gaming, occupational health and safety and other applicable laws and regulations.
n
- Maintaining appropriate incident, compliance, financial, staffing and operational records.
n




- Supervising venue security arrangements, patron safety and the maintenance of the premises and equipment.
n
- Recruiting, training, rostering, supervising and evaluating bar, floor, kitchen, function and support staff.
n
- Developing and implementing operating policies, procedures and staff performance standards.
n
- Monitoring customer satisfaction and resolving escalated complaints and service issues.
n
- Developing promotions, functions, sporting events and marketing initiatives to increase patronage and revenue.
n
- Coordinating with chefs and kitchen management regarding menus, service standards, food costs and function requirements.
n
- Liaising with suppliers, contractors, regulatory authorities and senior group management.
n
- Preparing regular operational and financial reports for the owners and senior management.
n
- Acting as the senior person responsible for the operation of the premises and its liquor-licensing obligations.

Qualifications and Experience

n

Applicants must possess:

n

n
- AQF Diploma or higher qualification and 2 years of experience in a managerial role within the hospitality industry.
n

n

Applicants must also demonstrate:

n

n
- Experience managing the complete operation of a busy licensed hospitality venue.
n
- Strong knowledge of liquor-licensing, RSA, food-safety and workplace-health-and-safety requirements.
n
- Experience managing budgets, wages, revenue, stock, purchasing and venue profitability.
n
- Experience recruiting, training and supervising a multidisciplinary hospitality team.
n
- Experience managing bar, bistro, functions, entertainment and customer-service operations.
n
- Solid leadership, communication, problem-solving and commercial-management capabilities.
n
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
n
- A current Victorian RSA certificate.
n
- Completion of, or willingness and eligibility to complete, all required Victorian licensee and liquor-management training.
n

A salary of $80,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation will be offered to the successful candidate.
