General Labourers Wanted - Local Council Opportunities

Pay Rate: $33.21ph - $35.37ph | 9-Day Fortnight | Expression of Interest
n Locations: Across the Northern Rivers.

Please note: Working Holiday Visa holders are not eligible for these opportunities.

These roles offer full-time hours, ongoing potential, and a great chance to get your foot in the door with local Councils throughout the Northern Rivers.

About the Roles

n

We regularly recruit for labouring positions across a variety of Council departments, including:

n

- Civil Construction & Road Maintenance
n
- Water & Wastewater Operations
n
- Resource Recovery & Waste Facilities
n
- Parks & Gardens
n
- Open Spaces & General Maintenance
n
- Infrastructure & Community Services
n

n

You'll be working alongside experienced Council teams helping deliver essential services and projects that directly benefit the local community.

n

Start Date: Opportunities arise regularly, generally with ASAP starts

n

Pay Rate: Depending on the role, between $33.21ph - $35.37ph

n

Schedule: Full-time hours working a 9-day fortnight (every second Friday off!)

n

Depot Locations: Byron Bay, Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah and surrounding areas

n

Duties May Include

n

n
- General labouring and maintenance tasks
n
- Assisting with civil construction and road maintenance works
n
- Supporting water and wastewater operations
n
- Resource recovery and waste facility duties
n
- Parks and gardens maintenance, mowing, brush cutting, planting and landscaping
n
- Operating hand and power tools
n
- Assisting tradespeople,



plant operators and Council crews
n
- Site clean-up and general housekeeping
n
- Following all workplace health and safety procedures
n

n

What We're Looking For

n

n
- Robust work ethic and positive attitude
n
- Previous experience in labouring, construction, civil, landscaping, maintenance, waste management or similar outdoor roles
n
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
n
- Team player who contributes positively to the workplace
n
- Willingness to learn and take on a variety of tasks
n
- Reliable, punctual and safety-focused
n

n

Essential Requirements

n

n
- White Card (Construction Induction Card)
n
- Current Driver's Licence and reliable transport
n
- Minimum 6 months labouring, civil, construction, landscaping, maintenance or similar experience preferred
n
- Ability to pass pre-employment checks including references, drug and alcohol screening, and physical assessments
n
- Full Australian working rights (Working Holiday Visa holders are not eligible)
n

Bonus Points If You Hold

- MR or HR Driver's Licence
n
- Traffic Control Tickets
n
- Plant Operator Tickets and relevant experience
n
- Chainsaw, Brush Cutter or Chemical Application Tickets
n
- Water Industry or Civil Construction tickets
n
