Job Description

JBU Group is a Brisbane-based engineering and design consultancy delivering practical, high-quality civil solutions across mining, infrastructure and industrial projects throughout Queensland and Australia. We're growing, and we're looking for a Senior Civil Engineer who wants more than a narrow technical role, someone ready to lead project work and mentor others. Unlike larger firms, your work here won't disappear into layers of corporate structure: you'll have visibility across projects, direct access to directors, and real influence over technical standards and client outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

Project scope

n

n
- Mining and industrial infrastructure projects across Queensland and Australia.
n
- Roads, haul roads, intersections and site access infrastructure.
n
- Bulk earthworks, site grading, platforms, pads and operational site infrastructure.
n
- Stormwater, drainage, culverts, open channels and surface water management.
n
- Lead civil design packages from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
n
- Prepare, review and coordinate designs, calculations, reports and technical documentation.
n
- Apply Australian Standards, Austroads guidance and Queensland/local authority requirements.
n
- Embed Safety in Design and constructability into every stage of delivery.

Coordination & leadership

n

- Manage technical scope, budgets and programme commitments for assigned packages.
n
- Coordinate deliverables with designers, engineers, project managers and external consultants.
n
- Mentor engineers and designers through review, guidance and mark-ups.
n
- Contribute to bids,



proposals and client relationships that drive repeat work.

About You

n

You're a practical, commercially aware civil engineer who enjoys solving real project problems. You take ownership of your work, communicate clearly, and want your contribution to be visible and valued in a growing consultancy.

Skills & Experience

n

n
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering.
n
- 8+ years' experience in civil engineering consultancy, mining, infrastructure or related project delivery.
n
- Strong technical capability in roads, earthworks, stormwater, drainage and civil infrastructure.
n
- Proven ability to prepare and review engineering designs, calculations and reports.
n
- Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
n

Highly Regarded

n

n
- RPEQ registration or actively working towards it.
n
- CPEng or progression towards Chartered status.
n
- Mining, resources, industrial or brownfield project experience.
n
- Experience working with Civil 3D / 12D designers and model-based delivery.
n
- Experience within ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
n
