If you’re currently leading large event teams, running pre-service briefings, allocating staff, keeping banquet service on track and becoming the person everyone turns to when something changes at the last minute, this could be the step you’ve been waiting for!
You’ll be at the heart of the operation on race days and major events (leading teams of up to 60–70 hospitality staff) running pre-service briefings, allocating staff across the venue and keeping every part of service on track.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the setup, execution and breakdown of banquet functions and events
- Ensuring venues are prepared according to event orders and client requirements
- Conducting pre-event briefings and allocating teams across service areas
- Leading hospitality workforces of approximately 60–70 staff through experienced supervisors
- Monitoring event timelines and responding quickly when plans change
- Maintaining high standards across presentation, food, beverage and guest service
- Coordinating closely with Events, Kitchen, Bar, Maintenance and Venue Operations
- Managing guest concerns and live operational issues calmly and professionally
- Coaching, supporting and motivating the broader hospitality team
- Contributing to roster coordination, staffing decisions and shift approvals
- Supporting labour management, stock control and waste reduction
- Completing shift reports and operational documentation
- Maintaining food safety, WHS and venue compliance standards
Let's talk about you!
You might already be an established Banquets Manager, or you could be a brilliant Team Leader, Supervisor or Assistant Manager who is ready to take full ownership.
You’ll need:
- Banquet or large-scale function experience
- Experience delivering large events such as gala dinners, conferences, major race days, corporate functions or large plated banquets
- Experience leading service delivery across approximately 60-70 hospitality staff, either directly or through supervisors
- Confidence conducting briefings, allocating teams and managing live event operations
- A genuine passion for hospitality and creating an excellent guest experience
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage several moving parts at once
- A calm, practical approach when problems arise
- A hardworking, hands-on leadership style
- The confidence to hold standards, provide direction and support your team
- Flexibility to work a Tuesday to Saturday roster and longer feature event days
Experience with foundU or a similar rostering platform would be helpful, but it isn’t essential.
