Macarthur General Practice is offering a position for a medical receptionist 2-3 days per week, with potential for increased hours for the right candidate.

- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
n
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
n
- Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively within a team environment
n
- Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people
n
- CPR training or willingness to undergo same
n
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to prioritise
n
- Computer literacy
n

DESIRED CRITERIA
n
n
- Previous experience in a medical reception or similar administrative position
n
- Previous experience in use of Medical Director and Pracsoft
n
- An understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule
n
- Demonstrated patient/customer focused approach in service provision
n
n
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS RECEPTION
n
n
- Open and close practice as per set procedure
n
- Greet patients and other visitors to the practice in a courteous and efficient manner
n
- Answer the telephone in a courteous and skilled manner
n
- Schedule appointments for patients following set procedures
n
- Bill patients appropriately and issue with invoice/receipt
n
- Enter and update patient registrations in computer
n
- Liaise with referring doctors, hospital staff, pharmacists etc as required
n
- Deal with emergencies when required, following set procedures
n
- Assist clinical staff by attending to administration tasks (eg. making phone calls, photocopying) as required
n
- Check and manage internal emails
n
- Attends general housekeeping such as tidying and cleaning of waiting room when necessary
n
n
ADMINISTRATION
n
n
- Recall patients as directed by clinical staff
n
- Prepare outgoing mail
n
- Open and distribute incoming mail
n
- Type medical reports/documents with a high level of accuracy as required
n
- Scan and/or file patient correspondence, results etc
n
- Batching Medicare and Veterans Affairs
n
- Balance daily receipts
n
- Ensure banking processed
n
- Ensure all forms, stationery and information sheets are adequately stocked
n
- Other administrative duties as directed by Practice Director
n
n
SAFETY AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT
n
n
- Participates in practice risk management and quality improvement processes
n
- Participates in general practice accreditation processes
n
- Actively participates in staff meetings
n
- Attends educational activities when required
n
- Recognises and works within own level of competence
n
- Maintains accurate, contemporaneous and complete patient records consistent with legal requirements and organisation policy
n
- Monitors work areas and practices to ensure they are safe and free from hazards and conform to health, safety and security legislation, policies and guidelines
