An exciting opportunity as a Return to Work Coordinator within the SA Metropolitan Fire Service and will be out posted to the SA Fire & Emergency Services Commission reporting to the Manager of Injury Management.

The Return to Work Coordinator is responsible for the effective delivery of Return to Work services, systems and processes for operational and non-operational staff of the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Services (MFS).

The role is the central workplace contact for coordinating Injury Management and Return to Work processes to achieve a safe, timely and sustainable return to work.

The role is also responsible for determining the return to work needs for injured workers, developing return to work strategies and developing, monitoring and reviewing recovery/return to work plans including the management of high-risk and/or complex matters.

Two roles available, one permanent ongoing and one 6 month contract.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager - Risk & WHS,



you'll play a key role in supporting employee wellbeing, driving positive return to work outcomes, and coordinating Council’s insurance matters. In this role, you will:

- Lead the end-to-end management and administration of workers compensation and income protection claims, ensuring positive outcomes for employees and the organisation.
- Coordinate and facilitate effective return to work and recovery at work programs, supporting employees, leaders and stakeholders throughout the process.
- Administer Council’s insurance portfolio and coordinate insurance claims, enquiries, renewals, reporting and outstanding matters in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on injury management, workers compensation, return to work and insurance matters to leaders, employees, claimants and stakeholders across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Local Government Workers Compensation Scheme requirements, Performance Standards for Self-Insurers (PSSI), insurance scheme requirements and organisational policies.
- Partner with the Risk & WHS team and relevant stakeholders to analyse claims, incidents and trends, identifying opportunities to reduce risk, improve processes and support positive outcomes.

You are more than an injury management professional. You are a compassionate problem solver, trusted advisor and strong relationship builder who can balance people-focused return to work support with practical insurance coordination to make a genuine impact.

You bring:

- Proven experience in injury management, workers compensation claims administration, return to work coordination and insurance claims or portfolio administration.
- Strong knowledge of relevant workers compensation, return to work,



work health and safety and insurance requirements, with the ability to provide trusted advice and guidance.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence and build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation.
- Experience supporting return to work, injury management, claims management, insurance administration or workplace health initiatives that contribute to positive employee, claimant and organisational outcomes.
- The ability to analyse information, manage competing priorities and make informed decisions across both return to work and insurance matters in a complex and dynamic environment.
- A collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused approach, coupled with a genuine commitment to employee wellbeing, workplace safety and fair claims outcomes.
