An outstanding opportunity is available for an experienced Head of Learning & Development to lead the learning, leadership and capability agenda of a leading professional services organisation.

This is a senior strategic role for a commercially minded Learning & Develoment specialist who understands the realities of legal practice and can translate emerging trends—including AI and digital transformation—into practical capability development initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, you will lead the Learning and Development team and develop a future-focused strategy that supports:

- Legal excellence and high-quality professional practice.
n
- Partner, leadership and succession development.
n
- Future-ready legal capability, including AI enablement.
n
- Workforce, technology and organisational development priorities.
n
- CPD, accreditation and professional development obligations.
n
- Measurable learning impact, capability uplift and return on investment.

In this role, you will work closely with partners, practice group leaders, executive stakeholders, technology and innovation teams, and external education and qualified bodies.

Key responsibilities
n
n
- Develop and execute an enterprise-wide Learning and Development strategy.
n
- Lead the evolution of legal capability and excellence frameworks.
n
- Design and oversee development programs for partners, emerging partners and senior leaders.
n
- Build capability in AI, technology-enabled legal practice and current ways of working.
n
- Advise senior leaders on leadership capability, succession and partnership development.
n
- Align learning investment with organisational strategy and commercial outcomes.
n
n
You will bring:
n
n
- Significant experience leading learning, leadership or capability strategies at enterprise or firm-wide level.
n
- A deep understanding of legal practice.
n
- Experience designing and delivering partner, leadership or professional development programs within a law firm or comparable professional services environment.
n
- Strong knowledge of adult learning, behaviour change, capability frameworks and learning evaluation.
n
- A future-focused perspective on AI, digital transformation and the changing nature of legal work.
n
- The credibility, judgement and executive presence to influence partners and senior stakeholders.
n
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to connect learning initiatives with organisational performance.
n
- A legal qualification is preferred, although significant experience in technical legal development will also be considered.
n
