Job Description
Key Responsibilities
n
Family Contact Supervision
n
n
- Supervise family contact visits in accordance with individual case plans and organisational requirements.
n
- Provide safe transport for children and young people to and from family contact visits.
n
- Support positive interactions between children, young people, and family members.
n
- Observe and monitor contact visits to ensure children's safety, wellbeing, and emotional needs are met.
n
- Identify and respond appropriately to any risk of harm or child protection concerns.
n
- Exercise professional judgement to suspend or cease contact visits where a child's safety or wellbeing may be compromised.
n
- Communicate concerns, observations, and recommendations to the Case Manager in a timely manner.
n
- Attend case conferences, review meetings, and other stakeholder meetings as required.
n
n
Documentation and Reporting
n
n
- Maintain accurate, objective, and comprehensive reports following each contact visit.
n
- Document observations of family interactions, child wellbeing, and any concerns arising during visits.
n
- Update case management databases and systems as required.
n
- Ensure all records are completed within required timeframes and comply with legislative and organisational standards.
n
n
Cultural Safety and Inclusion
n
n
- Promote culturally safe and inclusive practices for all children, young people, families, and carers.
n
- Respect and support the cultural identity, traditions, and community connections of children and young people.
n
- Support carers to understand and respond to children's cultural needs.
n
- Demonstrate an anti-bias approach and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
n
n
Collaboration and Service Delivery
n
n
- Work collaboratively with Case Managers, carers, families,
and external stakeholders.
n
- Contribute to positive outcomes for children and young people through effective communication and teamwork.
n
- Maintain skilled relationships with key stakeholders and community organisations.
n
- Participate in continuous improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
n
n

n
n
- Comply with all workplace health and safety requirements.
n
- Identify, report, and manage risks in accordance with organisational procedures.
n
- Promote a culture of health, safety, and wellbeing.
n
- Ensure incidents and hazards are reported promptly and accurately.

Essential Criteria
n
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
n
n
- Experience working with children and young people.
n
- Understanding of Out of Home Care (OOHC), child protection principles, and family preservation practices.
n
- Ability to recognise and respond to child protection concerns and risks of harm.
n
- Experience working with families experiencing complex needs, trauma, and conflict.
n
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
n
- Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
n
- Sound organisational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
n
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic case management systems.
n
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
n
n
Desirable Criteria
n
n
- Previous experience supervising family contact visits.
n
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and child-centred practice frameworks.
n
- Experience working in regional or rural communities.
n
- Understanding of Aboriginal culture, community, and culturally safe practices.
n
- Experience working within community services, child and family services, or OOHC programs.
n
n
Qualifications and Requirements
n
Essential
n
n
- Current Driver's Licence.
n
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
n
- Current NSW Working With Children Check.
n
- National Criminal History Check.
n
- Ability to travel throughout Parkes and surrounding Central West NSW communities.
n
- Experience working within child, youth, family, or community services.
n
n
Desirable
n
n
- Certificate IV, Diploma, or tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Youth Work, Child and Family Services, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related discipline.
n
- Relevant OOHC experience.
n
n
