Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Development Engineer to join our Development Engineering team. This is a senior technical role where you will help shape protected, sustainable and well-designed development outcomes across the region.
n
You will provide specialist engineering advice, assess complex development and subdivision proposals, inspect construction works and support the delivery of infrastructure that benefits the community.
n
This is an opportunity to use your technical expertise in a role that combines engineering, problem solving, customer service and collaboration across Council.

In this role, you will:
n
n
- Provide senior development engineering advice on development applications, subdivisions and infrastructure proposals.
n
- Assess engineering plans, drainage and detention systems, driveways, roads, pavements, traffic and public infrastructure.
n
- Provide pre-DA advice and strategic engineering input into land use planning and development matters.
n
- Assess and determine relevant construction, subdivision, Road Act and Local Government Act applications.
n
- Undertake inspections of subdivision and development construction works.
n
- Review engineering drawings, technical reports, as-constructed information and final survey plans.
n
- Represent Council in complex matters, including legal proceedings where required.
n
- Support the Coordinator Development Engineering with technical, strategic and business planning advice.
n
- Mentor and support development engineering staff and contribute to continuous improvement.
n

What you'll bring
n
n
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field.
n
- Extensive experience in development engineering and the assessment of development applications.
n
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, engineering standards and industry requirements.
n
- High level experience in subdivision design, development construction, drainage, detention, pavements and erosion and sediment control.
n
- Experience assessing and approving engineering plans and supervising development construction.
n
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a team.
n
- Strong communication, negotiation, problem solving and report-writing skills.
n
- The ability to build constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
n

What we offer?
n
n
- Salary: Commencing salary circa $113,000 - $124,000p.a. plus superannuation. (dependent on skills and experience)
n
- 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance
n
- A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.
n
- Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
n
- Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
n
