Job Description

Position Information

n

Dawson Public School, located in Western Sydney, serves a diverse community, with 281 K-6 students, 2 multi-categorical (MC) support classes, and 53 preschool students totalling 346 students. Our schools cultural diversity includes 52% of our students from non-English speaking backgrounds, 33% requiring EAL/D (English as an Additional Language or Dialect) support, and 18% identifying as Aboriginal.

Selection Criteria

n

n
- Approval to teach primary English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in EAL/D qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
n
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement high quality engaging and effective differentiated teaching and learning EAL/D programs and resources to maximise the learning outcomes of diverse learners.
n
- Ability to guide teachers in effective use of the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions and ESL Scales and work collaboratively with staff on whole-school data collection and reporting practices.
n
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and experience in working collaboratively with teachers, school leaders and families.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching prospect.

This is a permanent part-time position of 4 per week, 0.8 FTE (full time equivalent).
