Lead delivery of port, marina, jetty & coastal infrastructure projects
$200K base + 12% super + 10% profit share, with flexibility for the right person
Less design. More contracts, commercials, tenders and actual project delivery.
As a Senior Project Manager / Project Director -Maritime, join a specialist engineering consultancy that already has the technical capability covered. What they need now is someone who knows how to actually deliver the work.
This isn’t a role for someone wanting to spend their week buried in design. You’ll sit between the technical teams, clients and commercial side of the business, keeping complex maritime projects moving and making sure the commercials stack up along the way.
Think ports, marinas, jetties, docks and coastal infrastructure across Australia, the Pacific and further afield.
The Role
You’ll take a senior role across project delivery, helping turn opportunities into well-priced, well-contracted and well-managed projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of complex maritime and coastal infrastructure projects.
- Manage project programs, budgets, resources and commercial performance.
- Play a key role in tenders and bids, particularly pricing, risk and commercial terms.
- Review and negotiate contracts before projects get underway.
- Manage variations and scope changes rather than letting them quietly eat project margin.
- Challenge clients when required and have sensible commercial conversations when scope, cost or expectations shift.
- Coordinate technical specialists across maritime, coastal and other disciplines.
- Work closely with senior client-facing leaders, freeing them to focus on relationships, opportunities and winning the next project.
- Oversee delivery rather than personally undertaking detailed design.
- There’s also room to come from the construction side of the industry. The important piece is understanding how major infrastructure gets delivered commercially and contractually.
The Team
You’ll join a profitable and growing international consultancy with almost 100 people across Australia, including a Maritime team of around 30.
There’s significant technical depth around you, but this hire fills a different gap: strong project leadership and commercial delivery.
The Australian business is growing, leadership has recently changed and there’s good momentum internally. It’s also a genuinely collaborative workplace; maritime projects regularly cross into coastal and other specialist teams, so you’ll have plenty of expertise to draw on without needing to be the technical answer to everything.
Experience
They're open on where your background has been built. You could come from consulting, contracting or construction.
What matters is that you can demonstrate:
- Senior Project Management / Project Director experience on complex infrastructure.
- Strong commercial and contractual capability.
- Experience with tenders, bids, pricing and project risk.
- Confidence managing variations, scope and difficult commercial conversations.
- An understanding of construction and project delivery.
- Maritime, ports, coastal or marine infrastructure exposure is highly regarded.
- Enough technical understanding to work effectively with engineers without needing to be the designer.
Package
$200,000 base + 12% super + 10% profit share, with potential flexibility above this for the right person.
