Job Description
Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper
n

As our organisation continues to grow, so does our Finance team. We're looking for an Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our Sydney-based team and play an important role in maintaining the accuracy, integrity and efficiency of our financial operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and bringing structure to a busy workplace. You'll work across multiple entities, supporting day-to-day finance operations while also helping us strengthen and improve our processes.

What You'll Be Doing
n
n
- Managing the end-to-end accounts payable process across multiple entities
n
- Processing, coding and reconciling high-volume supplier invoices
n
- Preparing weekly payment runs and maintaining accurate supplier records
n
- Completing daily and monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
n
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies, unreconciled transactions and outstanding balances
n
- Reconciling corporate cards, expenses, payroll clearing and other accounts
n
- Supporting month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and supporting schedules
n
- Assisting with intercompany reconciliations and fixed asset processes
n
- Supporting historical account clean-up and data integrity projects
n
- Working closely with the Financial Accountant and broader Finance team to meet reporting deadlines
n
- Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, controls and workflows
n
n
What We're Looking For
n
We're looking for someone who is organised, practical and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
n
You'll Be Someone Who
n
n
- Has experience in an Assistant Accountant, Bookkeeper or similar finance role
n
- Has strong accounts payable and reconciliation experience
n
- Understands basic accounting principles and general ledger processes
n
- Has experience supporting month-end activities
n
- Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail
n
- Can manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
n
- Is confident investigating discrepancies and following issues through to resolution
n
- Communicates clearly and professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders
n
- Is comfortable working across multiple entities, business units or cost centres
n
- Takes ownership of their work and looks for ways to improve how things are done
n
n
You'll Ideally Bring
n
n
- Strong Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables and reconciliation formulas
n
- Experience using an accounting or ERP system; MYOB experience is highly desirable
n
- A relevant accounting, bookkeeping or business qualification is desirable
n
- A hands-on and proactive approach to your work
n
- Strong problem-solving skills and a genuine interest in getting to the bottom of discrepancies
n
- The ability to work systematically through historical issues while maintaining accurate ongoing processes
n
- A commitment to confidentiality, financial integrity and accuracy
n
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to support the broader Finance team
n
- Experience in the NDIS, disability, healthcare or another service-based environment will be highly regarded
n
