Job Description
BI Specialist (12‐Month Contract)
n
Emanate Technology are seeking two Workforce Reporting / BI specialists to help deliver a significant uplift of a national organisation's workforce reporting environment. This program involves rebuilding, rationalising, and modernising a large suite of Power BI dashboards and people‐data assets.
n
Australian citizenship is required due to the nature of the project and future clearance pathways.

The Opportunity
n
The organisation is transitioning from 90+ legacy dashboards to a streamlined, governed reporting ecosystem. These 12‐month contract roles (senior + mid/senior) offer meaningful work, strong business support, and genuine future permanent opportunities.
n
What You'll Do
n
n
- Work in a newly formed Workforce reporting team put together to modernise and rebuild existing systems.
n
- Rebuild and modernise 40+ core Power BI dashboards; rationalise 90+ legacy reports.
n
- Redefine metrics and measures aligned to a data governance framework.
n
- Deliver statutory, executive, SLT and operational workforce reporting.
n
- Design scalable people‐data models and SQL‐based logic.
n
- Integrate data from multiple HR/workforce systems (IFS, Chris21, PageUp, etc.).
n
- Implement role‐based access, RLS, data masking and sensitive‐data controls.
n
- Align reporting to correct source‐of‐truth systems; reduce duplication.
n
- Partner with P&C;, Capability, Supply Chain, IT, DevOps and Data Engineering.
n
- Lead workshops, clarify requirements, run UAT and manage go‐live cycles.
n
- Challenge requests constructively and guide stakeholders to governed solutions.
n

Skills & Experience.
n
Must‐Haves
n
n
- Strong BI background with Power BI rebuilds and dashboard rationalisation.
n
- Exposure to the Microsoft BI stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS) and broader MS ecosystem.
n
- Integrating data from HR/workforce systems.
n
- Solid SQL capability; able to interpret and refine logic.
n
- Workforce/ Human capital‐data and dashboards experience.
n
- Understanding of governance, permissions, RLS, masking, encryption.
n
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement; confident pushing back.
n
n
Nice‐to‐Haves
n
n
- Microsoft stack: Power Query, Power Automate, Power Apps.
n
- Azure familiarity.
n
- Experience in complex organisations (defence, education, finance, public sector).
n
- Exposure to DevOps or IT engineering teams.
n
n

- CBD office location.
n
- Monday anchor day + 2 additional office days; adaptable full week WFH during reporting cycles.

- Optional work from secondary site.

- No clearance required to start.
