Starbuck Group is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our team.

n

This role is suited to someone with approximately two to five years' experience who has a sound understanding of civil earthworks and can prepare accurate, commercially considered estimates and tender submissions.

n

You will manage estimating opportunities from the initial enquiry through to submission and follow-up. An important part of the role will be liaising directly with clients to understand their requirements, clarify project scopes and build strong, long-term working relationships.

Civil Estimator – Earthworks

n

Starbuck Group is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our team.

n

This role is suited to someone with approximately two to five years' experience who has a sound understanding of civil earthworks and can prepare accurate, commercially considered estimates and tender submissions.

This is an estimating-focused position.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scopes of work
n
- Complete detailed quantity take-offs for civil earthworks projects
n
- Estimate labour, plant, materials, subcontractor and project delivery costs
n
- Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor pricing
n
- Identify scope gaps, risks, exclusions, qualifications and opportunities
n
- Prepare accurate and competitive quotations and tender submissions
n
- Attend site inspections and pre-tender meetings where required
n




- Liaise with clients to clarify project requirements and understand their priorities
n
- Maintain regular and professional communication with clients throughout the estimating process
n
- Follow up submitted quotations and tenders and respond to client queries
n
- Develop positive relationships with new and existing clients
n
- Maintain current estimating rates, records and supporting documentation
n
- Work closely with management and operational teams to ensure estimates reflect practical delivery requirements
n
- Prepare clear handover information when work is successfully awarded
n
- Review tender outcomes and use feedback to strengthen future submissions
n

About You

n

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

n

n
- Approximately two to five years' experience in civil estimating or a similar position
n
- Demonstrated experience estimating civil earthworks projects
n
- A practical understanding of earthworks methodologies, plant capabilities, productivity rates, labour and materials
n
- Experience reading and interpreting civil drawings, specifications and tender documents
n
- Strong quantity take-off and cost-estimating skills
n




- Sound commercial judgement and attention to detail
n
- Confidence communicating directly with clients and building professional relationships
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
n
- The ability to manage multiple estimates and competing deadlines
n
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience using relevant estimating software
n
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of opportunities
n
- A current Australian driver licence
n

Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction management, quantity surveying or a related discipline will be well regarded; however, demonstrated industry experience and capability are equally important.
