We recognise that our success, and future success, is tied directly to our people. We are looking for an Autonomy Systems Engineer to join the Company in Ipswich, Suffolk.

About The Role
n
As an Autonomy Systems Engineer, you will develop and integrate the onboard autonomy stack for Jacobsen vehicles. This role focuses on vehicle-level system integration, safety-critical architecture, and embedded implementation, supporting the transition from prototype systems to production-ready autonomous platforms.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
n
n
- Lead integration of the autonomy stack (perception, localisation, planning, control) onto vehicle platforms;
n
- Design and implement safety systems, including safety controllers and safe stop functionality;
n
- Develop and integrate embedded software and vehicle control interfaces (CAN, drive-by-wire);
n
- Define and deliver sensor integration (LiDAR, radar,
cameras, GPS/IMU);
n
- Execute vehicle-level testing and validation, including field trials;
n
- Support functional safety activities (HARA, safety case, certification readiness);
n
- Other duties as required.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics/Mechatronics or similar.
n
- A minimum of two years' experience in autonomous or robotic systems integration, or similar roles.
n
- Required Skills:n n
- Strong understanding of functional safety (ISO 13849 / ISO 12100);
n
- Experience with embedded systems and real-time control;
n
- Knowledge of sensor systems and vehicle interfaces (CAN);
n
- Hands-on experience with system testing and validation;
n
- Self-motivating and able to work with low levels of supervision to defined objectives;
n
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

- Desirable Skills:n
n
- ROS2 and robotics software stacks;
n
- Sensor fusion and perception systems;
n
- Safety-rated controllers / safety PLCs;
n
- Off-highway or automotive systems experience.
n
