Job Description

As an Insurance Building Assessor / Estimator, you will be responsible for assessing residential building damage, preparing detailed repair scopes and cost estimates, and providing professional reports to support insurance claims.

This position combines field and office-based work throughout South East Queensland and Northern Rivers (NSW) and requires a strong understanding of residential construction, insurance repair processes and customer service.

n

Conduct residential site inspections.

n

Safely undertake roof inspections (working at heights is essential).

n

Assess damage and determine appropriate repair methodologies.

n

Prepare detailed repair scopes, cost estimates and expert reports.

n

Review engineering reports, plans and technical documentation where required.

Key Responsibilities

Assessments & Estimating

n

- Conduct residential site inspections.
n
- Safely undertake roof inspections (working at heights is essential).
n
- Assess damage and determine appropriate repair methodologies.

- Prepare detailed repair scopes, cost estimates and expert reports.

- Review engineering reports,

Client & Stakeholder Management

n

- Liaise with homeowners, insurers, loss adjusters and subcontractors.
n
- Provide outstanding customer service throughout the assessment process.
n
- Maintain clear and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
n

n

Project Coordination

n

n
- Work closely with supervisors and trade coordinators
n
- Assist in resolving scope variations and technical queries.
n
- Manage multiple projects while meeting internal and external KPIs.
n

n

Administration

n

n
- Maintain accurate records within Prime Ecosystem and insurer portals.
n
- Upload reports, photographs and supporting documentation within required timeframes.
n
- Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate and compliant.
n

n

Health, Safety & Compliance

n

n
- Follow all company WHS policies and procedures.
n
- Maintain safe work practices during all site inspections.
n
- Represent The Blue Heeler Group professionally at all times.
n

Skills & Experience

n

Essential

n

n
- Previous experience as an Insurance Building Assessor, Insurance Estimator or similar role.
n
- Solid knowledge of residential construction and repair methodologies.
n
- Experience preparing detailed reports,



repair scopes and cost estimates.
n
- Experience writing professional assessment and expert reports.
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
n
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
n
- High level of computer literacy.
n
- Current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
n
- Current White Card.
n
- Full Australian working rights.
n
- Ability to safely inspect roofs and work at heights (working at heights essential).
n

Highly Regarded

- Trade qualification (Carpentry or similar) - Highly Regarded
n
- QBCC Supervisor or Builder Licence - Highly Regarded
n
- Experience using multiple online portals
n
- Previous insurance repair industry experience.
