Senior Administration Support Officer - ED Casuals

Are you a dynamic Senior Administration Officer ready to make a lasting impact? We are currently seeking passionate and experienced Senior Administration Officers to join our team in our newly established emergency department. We have multiple casual roles available.
n
Based at our Springfield campus, this role will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield which opened early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it's set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!

Working a variety of shifts across a 24/7 rotating roster, this role is critical to the smooth operation of Queensland's newest Emergency Department. You'll play a key part in supporting clinical teams across triage, admissions and patient flow, ensuring patients are accurately clerked, billed correctly, and supported efficiently during their ED journey.

What you'll be doing
n
n
- Supporting ED operations across all major areas including triage, admissions and patient flow
n
- Accurately clerking patients and ensuring timely admission, transfer and discharge processes
n
- Managing Medicare and private health insurance details, including identifying Medicare-ineligible patients
n
- Processing patient payments and liaising with Finance to facilitate billing and reconciliation
n
- Providing front-of-house and ward-based administrative support within a 24/7 environment
n
- Maintaining high standards of data quality, confidentiality and compliance
n
- Working collaboratively with clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure full coverage of all rostered ED shifts
n
- Contributing to orientation and training during a comprehensive onboarding period
n

About you
n
n
- Ability to pick up shifts at short notice
n
- Demonstrated experience in senior administration within a healthcare or hospital setting
n
- Strong knowledge of patient admissions, billing, Medicare and private health insurance processes
n
- The ability to work rotating shifts across a 24/7 roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays
n
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
n
- Experience using health information systems and intermediate Microsoft Office skills
n
- Excellent communication skills and a calm, professional approach under pressure
n
