The Community

Newhaven College is an independent, ecumenical and co-educational school which was founded in 1980, and now caters for over 900 students from Prep through to Year 12. Offering a diverse academic curriculum with a caring pastoral approach, students enjoy excellent facilities and a diverse range of co-curricular opportunities.

The Role

Reporting to the Principal, the Director of Learning is a member of the Newhaven College Leadership Team and has a leading role in developing a culture of learning throughout the College from Prep to Year 12. The Director of Learning is responsible for building a learning community through improving student development and achievement,



academic programs and classroom pedagogies. The role provides strategic leadership for learning across the College and works closely with the Leadership Team to ensure alignment with Newhaven College values and strategic direction.

Essential Criteria

Demonstrated success in educational leadership, with an outstanding record of effective leadership in a complex and creative organisation.

- An ability to think strategically about teaching and learning and shape learning strategy across a multi-campus setting.
- Proven ability to initiate, lead and manage change and innovation, while delivering agreed strategies and objectives.
- Demonstrated capacity to build teacher expertise, promote professional learning and celebrate student success.
- Outstanding communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration, or eligibility for VIT registration.

Terms and Appointment: The appointment will commence in Term 1, 2027.
