About the role

n

Working as part of our broader student wellbeing and pastoral care team, the School Chaplain / Wellbeing Officer will provide support to students across the College, developing trusting relationships and helping students navigate the social, emotional, spiritual and personal challenges they may experience.

n

The successful applicant will contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture through pastoral care, mentoring, wellbeing initiatives, small-group programs and opportunities for students to explore and grow in their faith.

n

The role will involve working collaboratively with teachers, Heads of School, Learning Support, Chaplaincy, families and external professionals to ensure students receive appropriate support.

n

Your day-to-day will involve

n

n
- Providing pastoral care, mentoring and wellbeing support to students
n
- Building positive and trusting relationships with students and identifying opportunities to support their wellbeing and engagement
n
- Supporting students experiencing social, emotional, family or other personal challenges
n
- Developing and facilitating wellbeing, resilience,



personal development and small-group programs
n
- Supporting and contributing to Christian programs, prayer, devotions and other opportunities for students to explore and grow in their faith
n
- Working collaboratively with teachers, Heads of School, Learning Support staff and College leadership
n
- Liaising appropriately with parents and carers regarding student wellbeing and support
n
- Speaking and presenting regularly at College assemblies, chapels and other whole-school gatherings, sharing age-appropriate Christian messages and reflections
n
- Working with external professionals and agencies where referrals or additional support are required
n
- Supporting College camps, excursions, assemblies, events and other activities that contribute to student wellbeing and community
n
- Maintaining appropriate records and documentation while ensuring confidentiality and professional boundaries
n
- Contributing to a safe, respectful and welcoming environment in which every student feels known and valued
n

About you

n

You are a caring, mature and relational person who genuinely enjoys working with young people. You are able to build trust, listen well and respond with empathy while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

n

You will be a committed Christian who is actively involved in the life of a Bible-based evangelical church and is able to support and model the Christian ethos and values of King's College.

n

You will also bring:

- A genuine passion for supporting the wellbeing and development of young people
n
- Demonstrated experience in pastoral care, student wellbeing, chaplaincy, counselling, youth work or a related field
n
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
n
- The ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, staff and external professionals
n
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage confidential information appropriately
n
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
n
- A calm,



compassionate and non-judgemental approach
n
- A commitment to child safety and the wellbeing of all students
n
- The ability to contribute positively to the Christian life and culture of the College
n

Qualifications and experience

n

A relevant qualification in one or more of the following areas would be highly regarded:

n

n
- Chaplaincy and pastoral care
n
- Counselling
n
- Youth work
n
- Community services
n
- Social work
n
- Psychology or wellbeing
n
- Education or student support
n

n

Experience working within a school, youth, pastoral care or community setting will also be highly regarded.

n

Applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain, the relevant Victorian child safety and employment screening requirements, including a Working with Children Check.
