I've been asked by my client, a well-established mechanical contractor in Melbourne to source an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering and project delivery team.

n

This is an opportunity for a technically strong design engineer who enjoys working on complex building services projects and wants to be involved from concept and design development through to construction and project delivery.

n

You'll work closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and clients to deliver practical, buildable mechanical solutions across a diverse range of projects.

n

You will be responsible for:

n

n
- Leading the mechanical design of commercial, industrial and/or large-scale building services projects
n
- Developing detailed mechanical designs, layouts, calculations and documentation
n
- Producing and reviewing drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit
n
- Undertaking HVAC load calculations, equipment selection and system design
n
- Reviewing consultant designs and identifying opportunities for optimisation
n
- Working closely with project and construction teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable
n
- Providing technical support throughout construction and resolving design issues as they arise
n
- Coordinating mechanical designs with architectural, electrical, structural and other disciplines
n
- Participating in design reviews, client meetings and project coordination
n




- Mentoring junior engineers and designers
n
- Ensuring designs meet relevant Australian Standards, codes and project requirements
n

You'll ideally have:

n

n
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
n
- 5+ years' experience in mechanical/building services design
n
- Strong HVAC and mechanical services design experience
n
- Experience working for a mechanical contractor, engineering consultancy or similar environment
n
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and relevant building codes
n
- Proficiency with Revit
n
- Excellent understanding of mechanical services coordination
n
- The ability to take ownership of designs and work autonomously
n
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
n
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering
n
