Senior Communications Advisor APS6 to EL1 equivalent – Defence
n Canberra | Baseline Security Clearance | Initial 6-Month Contract + 6-Month Extension
n Rate: $95 to $125 per hour
n Canberra Consulting is seeking experienced Communications Advisors / Communications Specialists to support a major program of workforce communication initiatives within the Department of Defence.
n Working within Defence's People Policy Division, you will support the planning and delivery of high-profile communication campaigns affecting both Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Australian Public Service (APS) personnel.
n This is a hands-on communications role requiring someone who can take a campaign from initial concept and planning through to content development, delivery and evaluation.
n The RoleYou will provide end-to-end communication support across a range of significant Defence workforce and people initiatives.
n
Responsibilities will include:
n
n
- Developing and delivering communication strategies and campaigns
n
- Managing the full communication lifecycle including scoping, planning, scheduling, development, testing, delivery and evaluation
n
- Providing expert communication advice to senior stakeholders
n
- Developing presentations, briefs and communication materials
n
- Supporting the development of multimedia content including video, animation, infographics and graphic design
n
- Coordinating webinars, Q&A; sessions and other virtual communication activities
n
- Stakeholder identification, analysis and engagement
n
- Identifying and managing communication risks
n
- Coordinating communications across multiple policy and workforce initiatives
n
- Producing communication suitable for audiences ranging from Defence personnel through to senior executives and Ministers
n

About You
n
We are looking for an experienced communications professional who can operate confidently within a complex and fast-moving workplace.
n
You will ideally bring:
n
n
- Strong experience developing and implementing communication strategies and campaigns
n
- Excellent written communication and content development skills
n
- Experience managing communications from planning through to delivery
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
n
- Experience developing or coordinating multimedia and digital communication products
n
- The ability to translate complex policy or organisational information to clear and engaging communications
n
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple communication priorities simultaneously
n
- Experience working within Defence, the ADF, Australian Government or a similarly complex organisation will be highly regarded
n
n
Experience with Defence and/or ADF communication strategies and implementation will be particularly advantageous.
