Axistek Advanced Manufacturing is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist with a positive attitude and strong work ethic to join a team where skilled tradespeople are respected and good workmanship is valued, No two days are the same.

You will be involved in machine setup, problem solving, process improvement and producing technically interesting components to a high standard. This is not repetitive button pushing.

We manufacture precision components and assemblies for air, land and sea applications using modern CNC equipment, 5 axis machining and automation.

About the role

We manufacture precision components and assemblies for air, land and sea applications using modern CNC equipment, 5 axis machining and automation.

Key responsibilities

n

n
- Program, set and operate CNC milling machines or CNC Lathes
n
- Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings
n
- Complete machine setups, tooling and work holding
n
- Read and interpret engineering drawings.
n
- Set and adjust tool and work offsets
n
- Inspect components using precision measuring equipment
n
- Select and manage cutting tools
n
- Troubleshoot machining issues
n
- Improve machining processes where possible
n




- Machine a variety of prototype, complex and repeat production components
n

n

About you

n

n
- Experience with CNC milling or CNC turning
n
- Experience setting CNC machines
n
- Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings
n
- Good understanding of tolerances and precision measurement
n
- Knowledge of cutting tools, speeds and feeds
n
- Confidence using precision measuring and inspection equipment
n
- Strong mechanical aptitude
n
- Good problem solving ability
n
- High attention to detail and accuracy
n
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
n
- Willingness to undergo a police check and pre employment medical assessment
n

n

Desirable skills

n

n
- Experience with HEIDENHAIN, FANUC or Okuma controls
n
- Trade qualification in Fitting & Turning (or equivalent).
n
- Multi axis or 5 axis machining experience
n
- CNC programming experience
n
- Knowledge of Mastercam
n

n

These skills are advantageous but not essential.
