Payroll Test Analyst

About the Role
n
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Test Analyst to join a payroll transformation project in Melbourne on an initial 6-month contract. The successful candidate will have strong payroll knowledge and hands‐on experience across payroll testing, requirements, data validation and reconciliation.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Develop test scenarios, test scripts and test data aligned with payroll business requirements.
n
- Coordinate and execute system, integration, UAT and parallel/shadow payroll testing.
n
- Validate payroll calculations, processes, awards, legislation and business rules.
n
- Analyse test outcomes, identify and document defects, and work with vendors and technical teams to resolve issues.
n
- Perform payroll data validation, reconciliation and investigation of discrepancies.
n
- Work closely with payroll stakeholders, SMEs, Business Analysts and project teams.
n
- Support requirements traceability and ensure testing coverage across payroll processes.
n
- Document testing results, defects, issues and recommendations.
n
- Assist with cutover planning, business readiness and transition activities.
n
- Provide regular testing updates, risks and recommendations to the Payroll Transformation Manager.

Key Skills & Experience
n
n
- Proven experience as a Payroll Test Analyst, Payroll Analyst, Payroll Specialist or Business Analyst within payroll transformation or system implementation projects.
n
- Strong understanding of end‐to‐end payroll processes, legislation, compliance requirements and payroll controls.
n
- Demonstrated experience conducting payroll testing, particularly parallel or shadow payroll testing.
n
- Strong experience developing test plans, test scenarios, test scripts and test data.
n
- Experience with payroll platforms such as ADP, SAP, Workday, Oracle, Chris21 or similar.
n
- Solid analytical and problem‐solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
n
- Experience investigating payroll discrepancies and performing complex reconciliations.
n
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
n
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills highly regarded.
n
- Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
n
n
This is a 6-month contract based in Melbourne with an ASAP start.
