Job Description
LGPM Process Innovation – Noble Park North VIC
n
LGPM Process Innovation designs and delivers industrial control and automation systems, and we're growing our in-house electrical and automation capability.
n
About the role
n
LGPM Process Innovation designs and delivers industrial control and automation systems, and we're growing our in-house electrical and automation capability. We're looking for a Control Systems Engineer to take technical ownership of projects from concept design through to commissioning and handover, with the autonomy to run your own scopes and limited day-to-day supervision. This is a hands‐on role that blends design and delivery — control and electrical design one day, panel build, installation management and commissioning the next.
n
Key responsibilities
n
n
- Design control and automation systems — control philosophies, functional specs, I/O schedules, network architecture and sequence-of-operation documentation
n
- Design control panels to AS/NZS 61439 and AS/NZS 3000 — schematics, layouts, BOMs and electrical calculations
n
- Select control, instrumentation and electrical components with process, environment, lifecycle and cost in mind
n
- Build, wire and test control panels, and supervise panel build work by technicians, apprentices and subcontractors
n
- Develop and commission PLC, HMI and SCADA applications, including FAT/SAT, fault‐finding and handover support
n
- Produce installation documentation — cable schedules, loop drawings, test records, compliance docs and as‐builts
n
- Manage site installation works — planning, resourcing, supervising crews and subbies, quality verification and close‐out
n
- Provide technical input to estimates, quotes and tenders, and act as the technical point of contact for your projects and clients
n
- Mentor apprentices, technicians and junior staff, and help shape consistent electrical and control standards across projects
n
n
About you
n
A Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronics); or a Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Automation with substantial relevant experience; or an A‐grade electrical trade qualification with demonstrated control systems design experience
n
3–5 years' experience in industrial control systems, automation or systems integration
n
Demonstrated control panel design and PLC, HMI and SCADA commissioning experience
n
Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3008 and AS 60204.1
n
Experience supervising installation works on operating industrial sites
n
Solid documentation, communication and client-facing skills, and the ability to manage concurrent projects autonomously
n
Victorian Electrical Worker's Licence (A-grade) or the ability to obtain, current driver's licence, White Card, and a satisfactory National Police Check if requested
n
Desirable: Hazardous areas competency (UEE42620 or individual Ex units), or willingness to obtain Registration under the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019 (Vic), RPEQ, Chartered status or NER listing — or eligibility to pursue Registered Electrical Contractor licence and functional safety experience (AS 4024, ISO 13849, IEC 61508 / IEC 61511)
n
Desirable: Experience in bulk materials handling or process industries, and proficiency in electrical CAD (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar)
