About Puddle Duck ~

Puddle Duck is Adelaide's newest lakeside café, bar and events venue, opening in the heart of Rymill Park this September.

As the sister venue to Peter Rabbit Café, Puddle Duck represents the next chapter in our growing hospitality group. Designed to evolve with the seasons, the venue will operate as a daytime café, a relaxed destination for sunset drinks and a private events venue.

With a beautiful parkland setting, a focus on exceptional hospitality and an experienced leadership team already in place, we're incredibly excited about what's ahead.

And now, we're looking for an experienced hospitality all-rounder to join our opening team as Assistant Venue Manager / 2IC.

This is an opportunity to join a brand-new venue from the ground up and play a key role in bringing it to life.

Working closely alongside our Café Manager, you'll help lead the day-to-day café operation, support the FOH team and take an active leadership role on the floor.

We're looking for someone who is confident in busy café environments, loves being hands-on with their team and is ready to step into a senior leadership role.

Strong coffee and barista experience is highly regarded, and we'd particularly love to hear from experienced Head Baristas, Café Supervisors or Assistant Managers who are confident across both coffee and front-of-house operations.

You'll also work alongside our broader leadership team, including our Group Venue Manager, Bar & Operations Manager, Executive Chef and Functions & Events Manager.

Your responsibilities will include ~

Supporting the Café Manager with the day-to-day operation of Puddle Duck

Leading shifts and maintaining exceptional service standards

Supporting, training and developing the front-of-house team

Helping establish systems and operational procedures as we open

Supporting coffee quality, consistency and barista training where experienced

Assisting with rostering, labour management and daily operations





Stepping into the Café Manager role when required

Working collaboratively with our broader leadership team

Helping shape the culture and customer experience at Puddle Duck from day one

You'll ideally have ~

Previous experience in an Assistant Manager, Café Supervisor, Head Barista or similar senior hospitality role

Solid barista and coffee experience is highly regarded

Confidence leading busy café shifts and supporting a FOH team

Experience training, mentoring and developing hospitality staff

Strong organisational and communication skills

A hands-on leadership style and willingness to jump in wherever needed

A genuine passion for hospitality, coffee and customer experience

The ability to thrive in a quick-paced environment

The confidence to step up, take ownership and support the Café Manager wherever required

Help open a brand-new venue from day one

Work closely with an experienced Café Manager and broader leadership team

Take on a genuine 2IC role with plenty of responsibility and room to grow

Work in one of Adelaide's most beautiful hospitality settings
