Michael Hill is looking for a detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our dedicated Tax Team in our Global Support Centre in Brisbane.

Michael Hill is a dual-listed (ASX/NZX) international jewellery retailer operating across Australia, New Zealand and Canada. We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Tax Accountant to join our dedicated Tax Team in Brisbane — a broad, high-ownership role with primary responsibility for multi-jurisdictional tax compliance, process improvement and cross-functional projects. This is not a standard compliance position; it suits a technically strong tax professional with a solid accounting foundation who thrives on complexity and autonomy.

More about the role:

- Assist with the preparation and timely lodgement of group income tax returns
n
- Assist with the preparation and timely lodgement of GST (or equivalent), FBT (or equivalent) and Non-Resident withholding tax returns in all jurisdictions in which Michael Hill operates.
n
- Involvement in process improvements across all areas of direct and indirect tax
n
- Assist with audit and risk review related enquiries from state and federal revenue authorities globally. Prepare relevant supporting information including liaising with external advisors where required
n
- Conduct internal compliance reviews/checks
n




- Prepare and maintain tax related balance sheet reconciliations
n
- Support and coordinate with financial accountants on various initiatives and projects
n
- Maintain professional relationships with all external providers
n

About you:

n

n
- Degree in Finance, Business or other relevant discipline
n
- Ability to manage and communicate constantly changing & competing priorities
n
- Ability to multi-task and work with large amounts of information & data
n
- Work accurately and efficiently in Excel with large volumes of data
n
- Developed computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and Microsoft AX Dynamics
n
- Highly developed written and oral skills
n
- Ability to interpret and suggest application of taxation law to current business transactions
n
- Demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail and time management with respect to deadlines
n
