Job Description
HMG Hardchrome is seeking applications from experienced, trade-qualified Fitter/Machinists for a permanent Machine Shop Leading Hand role within our Production Department (Large Line).

This opportunity is suited to a hands‐on leader who enjoys working on the tools, leading by example, supporting team performance, and delivering safe, efficient, and high‐quality production outcomes in a busy workshop environment.

About The Role
n
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this permanent, full‐time role will see you provide day‐to‐day leadership and operational support across the Large Line within our Production Department.
n
You will coordinate workflow on the floor, actively support production staff, uphold safety standards, and ensure production targets and quality requirements are consistently achieved.
n

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Provide hands‐on leadership and direction to production employees
n
- Coordinate daily workflow to meet production targets and deadlines
n
- Promote and maintain safe work practices and compliance with site procedures
n
- Monitor job progress,
workflow efficiency, and quality of completed work
n
- Assist with problem‐solving and elevate issues when required
n
- Foster a positive, accountable, and productive team culture
n
- Liaise closely with the Production Supervisor and workshop teams to ensure smooth operations
n

About You
n
To be successful in this role, you must have:
n
n
- Australian recognised trade qualification as Fitter/Machinist (essential)
n
- Proven experience in a workshop or manufacturing setting
n
- Previous experience as a Leading Hand or in a similar supervisory role
n
- Strong understanding of production processes and safety requirements
n
- Ability to lead by example and support a high‐performing team
n
- Clear communication skills and the ability to coordinate work effectivelyA strong commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
n
