Our client is an established full-service Australian law firm with a highly regarded Planning, Environment & Governance practice. The team advises private developers, landowners, corporations and government clients across complex planning, development,
n
environmental and public law matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning and environment lawyer seeking greater autonomy, direct client engagement and the opportunity to take a leadership role within a growing practice.
n
The role
n
Working closely with senior practitioners, you will manage a wide-ranging portfolio of advisory and contentious matters, including:
n
n
- Planning approvals, development consents and certification
n
- Land and Environment Court Class 1 and Class 4 proceedings
n
- Compliance, enforcement and environmental offences
n
- Local and State Government disputes
n
- Compensation and land valuation matters
n
- Strategic land-use planning and contaminated land
n
- Environmental licensing and natural resource management
n
- Access to public information and broader public law matters
n
n
You will have responsibility for the day-to-day conduct of files, including preparing advice and submissions, reviewing expert reports, instructing counsel and representing clients at meetings, directions hearings, motions and conciliation conferences. As a Senior Associate, you will also mentor junior lawyers, contribute to client development initiatives and help strengthen the team's precedents and knowledge resources.

About you
n
You will have:
n
n
- Approximately 5-8 years' post-admission experience
n
- Strong knowledge of NSW planning and environment legislation and procedures
n
- Experience appearing in the NSW Land and Environment Court
n
- Well-developed drafting, advocacy and analytical skills
n
- The ability to manage matters independently and build trusted client relationships
n
- A collaborative approach and an interest in mentoring junior practitioners
n
n
