Senior Project & Policy Officer, Aboriginal Health - fixed term

This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal people, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.

What you will do

n

As senior Aboriginal policy and projects officer, you will improve Aboriginal healthcare across Victoria.

n

You will work across justice health, youth justice and correctional settings.

n

You will:

n

n
- design and assess culturally protected improvements to Aboriginal healthcare.
n
- work with Aboriginal people in custody to understand their health needs and experiences.
n
- work with service providers and justice teams to solve issues affecting safe and appropriate healthcare.
n
- build strong working relationships that help resolve issues and improve outcomes for Aboriginal people.
n
- prepare clear reports, briefs and project documents that support sound decisions.
n

About you

n





You must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to apply for this designated position.

n

A relevant qualification in health care, public policy or justice is highly desirable.

n

You should also have:

n

n
- strong knowledge of Aboriginal society, culture and issues affecting Aboriginal communities.
n
- sensitive communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Victorian Aboriginal communities.
n
- strong analytical skills to research issues and identify policy and program needs.
n
- strong communication and relationship skills for working with people across complex services.
n
