Job Description
Senior Advisor - Governance & Information Management

Building Commission NSW | Government Contract

Location: Parramatta, Sydney CBD, Gosford or other locations considered
n
Contract: 6 months, potential for extension
n
Start Date: 31 August 2026
n
Rate: $900-$1,100 per day + super
n
Hours: 40 hours per week
n
Working Arrangement: Hybrid - 2-3 days in the office
n
The Opportunity An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Advisor - Governance & Information Management to join Building Commission NSW on an initial 6-month contract. This senior advisory role will support the continued uplift of governance capability across the organisation, with a strong focus on privacy, information and records management, compliance, policy and organisational accountability.
n
You will provide expert advice to stakeholders, support key governance initiatives and ensure existing projects maintain momentum and meet required milestones.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Provide expert advice on privacy, records management and information governance matters.
n
- Assess and respond to privacy incidents and provide timely advice on appropriate actions.
n
- Support the delivery of a governance capability uplift program, including internal communications, templates and quick reference guides.
n
- Maintain governance registers, tracking tools, recordkeeping requirements and the Governance shared inbox.
n
- Embed privacy-by-design and information management principles across projects, programs and operational activities.
n
- Prepare governance reports, briefings and recommendations for senior leaders and governance forums.
n
- Lead the development and delivery of information management strategies and initiatives.
n
- Develop and improve governance frameworks, policies, guidance materials and assurance processes.
n
- Identify governance and information-related risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
n
- Work closely with stakeholders to strengthen governance maturity, compliance and information stewardship.
n
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across governance and organisational performance.

About You
n
n
- Demonstrated experience in privacy, information management, records management, governance and/or compliance.
n
- Strong knowledge of legislative, regulatory and policy requirements and the ability to translate these into practical business advice.
n
- Experience developing governance frameworks, policies, guidance materials, assurance processes or organisational uplift initiatives.
n
- Demonstrated ability to maintain momentum across existing projects and deliver key milestones within required timeframes.
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across diverse business environments.
n
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify governance risks and recommend effective solutions.
n
- Robust written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level reports, briefings and recommendations.
n
- A responsive, approachable and solutions-focused working style.
n
- Previous experience within NSW Government or the broader public sector is highly desirable.
n
n
