Redeemer Lutheran College is seeking an exceptional educational leader to join our Senior School team as Head of Department - Health & Physical Education (Years 7-12), commencing in Term 1 2027. This is an exciting prospect for an experienced and passionate educator to lead a high-performing department, influence teaching and learning outcomes, and contribute to the holistic development of students within a vibrant Christian learning community.

About the Role

n

Reporting to the Principal through the Head of Teaching and Learning, the Head of Department - HPE is responsible for leading curriculum development, teaching excellence, assessment practices, and staff performance across the HPE Department. You will play a pivotal role in fostering innovation, maintaining high academic standards, and creating engaging learning experiences that inspire students to achieve their personal best.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading and developing the strategic direction of the HPE curriculum across Years 7-12.
n
- Supporting and mentoring HPE teachers to achieve excellence in classroom practice.
n
- Driving curriculum innovation, assessment moderation and data-informed improvement initiatives.
n
- Building a positive, collaborative and high-performing departmental culture.
n
- Managing departmental resources, budgets and operational requirements.
n
- Partnering with students, families and colleagues to promote student growth, wellbeing and achievement.
n

You are an accomplished educator and leader who is passionate about quality teaching and student outcomes. You thrive in a collaborative environment and have the ability to inspire others through strong leadership,



professional expertise and a commitment to continuous improvement.

- Demonstrated leadership experience within a secondary school setting.

- Strong knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment practices in HPE.

- Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop teaching staff.

- A commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional growth.

- Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
n
- Relevant teaching qualifications and experience.
